2023 Epic Games Mega Jam

On September 1st 2023, Epic Games announced that the 2023 Mega Jam is going to be the first of its kind to allow UEFN projects to enter and go for a chance at numerous prizes and ultimately glory within the Fortnite ecosystem!

What is the Mega Jam?

The Mega Jam is a seven-day long event which brings developers, artists and designers throughout the Unreal community to race against the clock to make a functional, playable and visually appealing project using a certain theme to shape a game!

What is the Theme?

What is the theme, you ask? At this time the theme has not been disclosed yet. However, it is expected to released during the launch which is September 14th, 2023. Stay updated by viewing the announcement on Fortnite.com

Important Information

This is open to UEFN and UE. However, each team may only submit to one. Keep in mind that each engine has separate submission guidelines as stated in the rules.

Event Start and End Time

Epic Games will start this event on September 14th 2023, at 2PM EDT, where they will reveal the theme in Unreal on Twitch, Youtube and Linkedin. The end of this extravaganza is September 21st 2023, at 11:59PM EDT.

Starts: September 14th, 2023 @ 2pm EDT

Ends: September 21, 2023 @ 11:59 EDT

Join the Jam

UEFN creators can join the Megajam event on September 14th, 2023 by accessing the and selecting Megajam on the dropdown menu. Please note that the option will not be available until September 14th, 2023!

Judging

Qualified entries will be reviewed and scored (1-5) by a panel of qualified judges, according to this criteria:

Unique Use of Contest Theme
Fun Factor
Visuals
Audio
Gameplay

Submission Criteria

Submission criteria for the 2023 Epic MegaJam offer both advantages and challenges. The guidelines prioritize original content, as teams are encouraged to present fresh creations. Moreover, while the rules emphasize novelty, there's flexibility provided, as non-original assets can be incorporated as long as they're permitted and properly disclosed. Additionally, the requirement for a flyover gameplay video enriches the submission process by offering a comprehensive preview of the content. However, teams face certain constraints.

Prizes

Within the Mega Jam, there will be prizes for both UEFN and UE for finalists placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Along with those, there are 11 other modifier prizes! View the full list of Prizes here: Megajam Prizes

Top Tips

Remember to focus on the gameplay the most as this is what you will mainly be rated on.
Make sure to think outside of the box about the theme and be unique
Make sure to follow the theme!
