β NOW LETβS DIVE INTO THE INTERVIEW β
Can you walk us through your project creation process from conception to completion?
Mega City FFA was mostly concept for us because we made that project after chapter 4 ended so it was really hard to know what goes where but after researching for about a week straight, we had all the data from videos and images we needed from all across the internet to actually make the map. This map mostly started only as an artistic map just to show/see how close we can get to recreating the actual Mega City poi. And after a bit of thinking we made it an Artistic/Free For All map so users can use almost all of the weapons to create contend within the map itself.
How much time typically goes into producing a project like yours?
Considering all we were going through it took roughly a month or more to get everything in place and make the most accurate depiction of Mega City for all players to enjoy or create contend from it.
What is your favorite project and why?
This was at the time my second project I ever published, so I guess this is probably the go to for my favorite project and all just because that with the right lighting settings and raytracing this map looks not only insane inside the Unreal editor but also on all platforms we tried it on.
What were the most significant challenges you encountered while working on your most ambitious project?
We have encounter 2 problems when we were tackling this map. One was the prefabs Epic provided had many errors and weird hit-boxes so we had to export and import them just to fix those errors and the other one was like I said before getting everything in the right place because we mostly wanted to focus on making it accurate to the original.
Did you have any experience in game development before you started creating in Fortnite Creative? How has that background influenced your work?
Before the Unreal Editor for Fortnite released, I have been messing around and experimented in Unreal Engine 5 and that sort of prepared me when UEFN released.
In Fortnite Creative, marketing can be quite challenging. How do you kickstart your marketing strategy for your projects?
I have mostly been focusing on marketing on Twitter/X by throwing some teasers for the map till the map actually releases and that brought some attention to the map itself.
What platforms or channels have you found most effective in promoting your projects?
The best platform to promote projects like this was Twitter. All thanks to some teasers and behind the scenes images of the project, but in the back, Iβm also preparing trailers for YouTube and Tik ToK.
Could you share a marketing technique that has been exceptionally effective for your projects?
Share images of your project or videos just to show off progress you made or just to show what you have been working on because just releasing the project isnβt enough if no one knows that it exists.
How crucial has your community been in the promotion of your projects? Can you describe the role they play in your overall marketing strategy?
I donβt have a big community but the ones that follow me share my project to others and play it actively.
In what ways do you leverage visuals like screenshots and trailers in your promotional activities? Can you give an example of a successful campaign?
I mostly focus on being transparent with my project online like for example on twitter I am actively posting new screenshots of upcoming updates. When I do this, I also just promote my projects with different high-quality images of the project! Mostly these images show of the map in the best graphical way possible like this one below:
What advice would you give to creators who are new to the creative community?
I myself am pretty new to the creator program so I can only say one thing grow an audience on any platform you want just put your name out there on the thousands of creators and also be consistent with your updates and uploads.
Have you ever collaborated with other creators for promotional purposes? How did you go about it, and what were the results?
I have not yet collaborated with other creators unfortunately but Iβm looking forward to doing that in the future.
How do you evaluate the success of your projects? Are there specific metrics you prioritize?
I would say that this project is way more successful than I ever thought It would be. As of the metrics, I think you should not prioritize - if your project is running to be real.
What is a common design pitfall that new creators in Fortnite should strive to avoid?
Donβt make to many project that just focus on one thing like the recent box fight trend it is for sure popular now but it will die out after less than a month so just make unique projects that stand out from these.
How do you stay on top of the latest trends in Fortnite Creative marketing?
I mostly focus on making consistent update to my project to avoid it from dying out and focus on what the players want to see and what I should improve to make the experience for all parties involved as good as it can get.
What actions could Epic Games take to simplify the marketing process for creators?
Maybe they could implement the UEFN forums into Fortnite as a sort of social media platform and feature creative maps on there or give them a shout out.
How do you manage to effectively market your projects, especially those not featured on Discovery? What strategies have you found useful in overcoming visibility challenges?
I mostly focus on making fun gameplay that you can revisit anytime you want and game design that is compelling to come back to like for example my project focuses on making people who miss mega city from chapter 4 happy. And most people who like the map usually come back for more at a later point.
What is your viewpoint on the recent temporary bans implemented by Epic? Do you believe these actions will steer the Creative community in a more positive direction?
Yes, I think these actions from Epic will move creative as a whole in a more positive direction. With more moderations discovery can be more user-friendlier than ever before. And to end this questionnaire I want to thank the FCHQ team to give me an opportunity to write all of this. You are all the best!
