Dealing with Bugs

CREATIVE TIPS | DEALING WITH BUGS
Every week or so there is a new bug to be discovered! In order to stay on track with what's been reported or what's being worked on, you can view the Fortnite Community Issues Board: https://trello.com/b/Bs7hgkma/fortnite-community-issues. For more real time reporting, it is best to view them in the the Fortnite Creative Discord: https://discord.gg/fortnitecreative.
Keeping track with whats happening with bugs can be a hassle, but don't let it break your spirit!
Here Are Two Quick Tips That Will Help You Face Bugs Bravely!
1 | CHECK THE FNC TRELLO BOARD & FNC DISCORD BUG REPORTS REGULARLY In order to stay on top of things that affect your map before it is published, or even when you are in the middle of planning your mechanics, you will want to check the FNC bug reports daily. This is to ensure you have enough time to prepare alternative solutions before you publish and push your map to Discovery.
2 | PRACTICE VERSATILE SOLUTIONS Being a creator means you will have to become versatile in many ways. Since updates happen on a regular basis, you never know when an update will impact your work. So you must be ready for anything, and be versatile. Let's say for instance you have a map that uses the fire volume device, and after an update you realize that the device is bugged. It's not enabling, or not disabling or even more alarming, it's showing the outer volume in the middle of your game level. This can be frustrating for you especially if it worked perfectly once before. You may even wish to pull the project, but unfortunately we can unpublish a map at the moment. So what can you do? In these instances, its the perfect time to be versatile. Save your published map, Duplicate it and keep it as a copy. Go back to your published map and rework the area. Maybe removed the fire volumes, and create a new event that would temporarily replace what you once had. If you are using the fire device for aesthetics purposes, then find another item to use that will create a similar burn effect, and save. When you find that the bug is fixed, then go back to the map you duplicated, copy the mechs and replace them on your published map, and push the it for the next update. This is just an example, and I hope it gives you a bit of insight on how being versatile can help. Remember in creative there's always more than one solution to an issue. So don't be afraid to explore it out and create unique alternatives.
FACE BUGS BRAVELY So don't let the weekly presence of bugs break your spirit! With proper planning, keeping an eye on the bug report boards, and developing versatile solutions, you will be able to face any bug bravely!
