2 Quick Tips for Better Level Design

CREATIVE TIPS | LEVEL DESIGN
Before you start to build your level, here are few things you should keep in mind to help you create a better player experience.
Here are two quick level design best practices you can use today!
-
NAVIGATION When building, consider how your players will navigate the level. You want the game experience to be clear as possible. You can use devices to assist you with this, for instance, the billboard device, map indicator device, tracker, vfx creator, the hud message device, and more. The best phase to start planning navigation for your level would be after you have decided on an initial design concept.
-
FLOW The way players move about from one point to the other needs to be fluid and easily manageable. If there are areas that present collision issues, such as misplaced barriers, enlarged props with invisible hitboxes, and crevices that players fall into and are unable to jump out of, it can interrupt the flow of the player experience. Depending on your type of game mode, it should be easy for players to move about your game level without bumping into props, etc.
