The production phase is the time your are actively building out your levels, and laying down mechanics. It is known to be the longest part of the game development stage. If you find that you have issues when you reach this stage in your game development journey, then I have prepare two quick tips to help ease you through the process.
Here are two quick productions tips that can help you build efficiently today!
1 | PRE-PLANNING Before you start production, it is important to know what you will be creating. If you plan effectively, you will find that your production stage will be less stressful. To properly plan for your game, here are a few things you can do before you start production:
โข Decide what genre your game will be โข Search through inspirational photos and create a concept board โข Decide what mechanics or devices will you need
Create a spreadsheet, mood-board or planner table for your game with answers to these questions. You will find that when it comes to production, you will be fully prepared!
2 | SET A SCHEDULE It is easy to fall into the trap of building for up to 8 or 10 hours at a time, trust me, I have been there, lol. Doing this is route to a quick burn-out. So, try your best to avoid this, if you can. Setting a schedule allows your production stage to flow better. And you will feel better too! Remember, building under stress is a sure way to miss important things that might occur which can effect the quality of your game.
